Over a year ago when the Hunger Games became this major THING I decided to jump head first onto the bandwagon and checked out the audiobooks from my local library I was really late to the party and it was not a type of book that had ever really sparked my interest. I have to say though that I don't regret reading the Hunger Games trilogy or even seeing the movie. I can't say I exactly enjoyed the books as I am very squeamish and dislike a ton of gore but I thought the books were pretty good. So, because of my good experience with The Hunger Games I decided to try out another dystopian series that I heard about called Divergent. Divergent is the first in a series not sure if it will be a trilogy or not. There is also a second book out already called Insurgent. I wont go into the synopsis as it is pretty easy to look it up online. I also decided to get the audio book and download it to my mp-3 (or as I call it my faux pod) I am less than halfway through the book but I am not sure if I will be able to finish it. I can't really explain it but this book is really messing with my mind. On the surface it's no worse than The Hunger Games but somehow the violence in this book is really getting to me.I have decided to put Divergent down for the time being and read something a little less heavy. Confessions of a Shopaholic should do the trick. Maybe when I am done with it I will check out Divergent again. Maybe dystopian isn't for me but I am going to give it another go with the classic 1984 by George Orwell. I was born in 1981 so it will be interesting to see how someone from the past imagined my world as a child. For now my jury is still out on dystopian and if it's for me ( they are a seriously indecisive jury I tell you what) but I am willing to give a few more go's. I think!!
Until a the next one
